The question I ask you, is this should a Corned Beef Pie, have carrots or not?
On the one hand you have the argument for, that carrots enhance the flavour, gives the pie a distinct flavour and also the fact that you are unaware of the fact that you are actually eating vegetables...
The flip side is that its a corn beef pie, that the focus of the dish is on the main ingredient and that the supporting cast of potato and onion are there to do just that support the main flavour, and the fact of adding anything that distracts you from the main flavour is wrong to be added.
Me, personally, I believe that you should experiment with the classics, nothing ventured, then nothing is gained...My personal touch to the dish would be to mix a tin of baked beans into the filling to add more flavour...
